Things to do in Auchterarder

Around a 45-minute drive from your luxury accommodation at Loch Lomond Waterfront, you can spend a day in Auchterarder. This small town in between Perth and Stirling, is home to the world-famous golf hotel Gleneagles. It’s also a popular place for shopping, with its wide range of independent shops and cafes. Here are some of our favourite things to do in Auchterarder …

Auchterarder Golf

For golf enthusiasts, Auchterarder is a dream day out. Gleneagles is one of the greatest golfing locations in the world, recently hosting The Ryder and Solheim Cup. Its offers three championship golf courses and one 9-hole course, plus extensive practise facilities. A wonderful setting that golfers of all levels will appreciate. There is also Auchterarder Golf Club, with spectacular views and a parkland course which runs alongside Gleneagles’ PGA Centenary. Both clubs are open to non-members all year round.

Other Attractions

But there’s more to Auchterarder than world-class golf. So if you’re more interested in history and sightseeing, you’ll still have things to see and do. Such as Tullibardine Chapel, an ancient building mostly unchanged since the middle ages. Ruthven Gallery, a small private art gallery with a changing programme of exhibitions. And for the thrill-seekers, Do It Outdoors, woodland adventure and activity centre.

Shops and Cafes

Known as the “lang toon” (long town), Auchterarder has a long High Street, measuring 2.5 km. There are lots of quirky independent shops and cafes to explore. So you can enjoy some retail therapy, stopping for refreshments along the way.

So whether you’ve been golfing, sightseeing or shopping, it’s less than an hour’s drive back to your Loch Lomond lodge. Where you can kick back and relax in the hot tub after a busy day.

'Just wanted to say a very big thank you for my wonderful stay, I have no words to describe the incredible comfort I had at the Cawdor Diamond Lodge, I just checked out today this morning from lodge 5, I do not agree that your lodge is a five star if I could I would call it a 100 star lodge. From start to finish, my stay at the lodge will never be forgotten it's special and unique and an amazing experience'
  • Such a beautiful setting

'Myself and my partner recently stayed in Drummond Lodge (from 21-24 Feb) and we just wanted to say thank you so much for a lovely stay. We loved our lodge, it was like a home from home, and we really didn’t want to leave! It was spotlessly clean and in such a beautiful setting. All the staff we met were really friendly. We also loved Balmaha, what a wonderful village. So thank you very much! We are the couple that took Flynn for a walk and we took this photo of him... we thought you’d appreciate a copy. Thanks once again...
  • Outstanding location

'The location is outstanding - right on the edge of Loch Lomond with private water frontage and beaches. As a location for exploring, again this rates very highly. We easily accessed central Glasgow by train from nearby Balloch and also explored Stirling (particularly the castle and Wallace memorial), the Falkirk Wheel and even Perth and Pitlochry by car. It is a very peaceful place, which can only be disturbed on occasion by your neighbours but with the Slumber Charter in place, we had absolutely no problems overnight.'
