Loch Lomond fishing breaks

Fishing holidays in Scotland are among some of the best. Here at Loch Lomond Waterfront, our self-catering lodges and chalets are perfectly situated to enjoy a relaxing Loch Lomond fishing break. And, we are right on the banks of Loch Lomond! Furthermore,  Loch Lomond has an enviable reputation as a course fishing venue. Important to point out is, permits are required and can be purchased locally. Or you can contact LLAIA for further information.

Our Loch Lomond fish

Interestingly, back 1947, T. Morgan caught the Scottish record Pike which weighed an incredible 47 lbs 11 oz (21.63 kg)! And around the Balmaha area, smaller fish such as Perch, Roach, Ruffe and Dace can be caught. If you are fishing for Pike, Pike anglers throughout Britain, rate  Loch Lomond Pike as the hardest fighting of all! Additionally, the Loch is also one of the few homes in Scotland to the elusive Powan. This fish is a variety of the fresh-water Houting – a “whitefish” with an adipose fin. And, It can grow to around 18″ (46cm) and weigh up to 2lbs (907g). Important to point out, the Powan is a protected species and if caught should be quickly returned.

Testimonials

  • Outstanding location

'The location is outstanding - right on the edge of Loch Lomond with private water frontage and beaches. As a location for exploring, again this rates very highly. We easily accessed central Glasgow by train from nearby Balloch and also explored Stirling (particularly the castle and Wallace memorial), the Falkirk Wheel and even Perth and Pitlochry by car. It is a very peaceful place, which can only be disturbed on occasion by your neighbours but with the Slumber Charter in place, we had absolutely no problems overnight.'
  • The staff go above and beyond

'The staff were fantastic and massive thank you to Rafal who was great checking everyone in on Friday and who also went above and beyond and took my grandparents back to their holiday cottage in Milton of Buchanan after the wedding!'
  • Such a beautiful setting

'Myself and my partner recently stayed in Drummond Lodge (from 21-24 Feb) and we just wanted to say thank you so much for a lovely stay. We loved our lodge, it was like a home from home, and we really didn’t want to leave! It was spotlessly clean and in such a beautiful setting. All the staff we met were really friendly. We also loved Balmaha, what a wonderful village. So thank you very much! We are the couple that took Flynn for a walk and we took this photo of him... we thought you’d appreciate a copy. Thanks once again...
  • An absolutely amazing wedding day

We had an absolutely amazing wedding day at Loch Lomond Waterfront. Lloyd and I loved getting married down at the water.  The sun shone the whole day which made it even more special. Our guests also loved the venue and how peaceful it was during our ceremony. It was lovely just listening to the water during the minister's prayers. Lloyd and I both loved the intimacy of the venue and the stunning scenery it had to offer. The transitions for each part of the day were so quick and smooth. Even the guests commented on how smoothly everything ran. Our...
  • We knew it would be perfect

'From our very first visit to this venue we knew that it was going to be perfect for our reception! The setting is magical, with enchanting views on even the most dreich of days. The staff are fantastic and so accommodating. We loved that we had so much flexibility over our choices, unlike at other venues! There was plenty of space within the private function rooms, which gave our guests plenty of room to socialise while hiding from the wet west coast weather on our big day! It was great not having to share our day with uninvited guests. The...
