Gleneagles

Golfing at Gleneagles

Gleneagles is easily one of the most famous golf courses in Scotland. It has, in fact, three championship courses. Designed by five times Open champion, James Braid, the King’s Course at Gleneagles was home to the first informal Ryder Cup match between Britain and the USA. Located in Auchterarder, less than an hour’s drive from Loch Lomond Waterfront, this is a spectacular golfing destination for our guests. What’s more, the club welcomes visitors of all levels and abilities, all year round.

The courses and facilities

Gleneagles has three championship golf courses: the King’s Course, Queen’s Course and PGA Centenary Course. Many prestigious tournaments have been held there, including the Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup. There is also a nine-hole par-3 course called the Wee Course. In addition, there’s an elite practice facility with a driving range, putting greens and pitching areas, along with two half-way houses and a clubhouse. For those who wish to pick up a souvenir or stock up on the latest golf gear, the Gleneagles Golf Shop provides a great shopping experience. Gleneagles is also home to the PGA National Academy for Scotland, providing coaching and skills training for all levels.

Booking a tee time

Gleneagles is open to golfers of any level. The club doesn’t require a handicap certificate, meaning all golfers are welcome. The three championship courses provide a wonderful, challenging experience for experienced players. While the Wee Course is an excellent 9-hole course for beginners and families. You can book a tee time online, but please book early as slots are in high demand. You can also learn to hone your skills with lessons at the PGA National Golf Academy.

How to get there

Getting to Gleneagles from Loch Lomond Waterfront is easy by car, via the A811 and A9, and takes under an hour. There are further directions here.

Testimonials

  • Our own private beach

'Just walking along the West Highland way path past some of the crowded beaches made us realise the value of having your own private waterfront onto the loch.  I can still picture walking down to the lochside on our first evening and watching an osprey dive for a fish!'
  • Right up there with the best

'We have travelled the world and stayed in all sorts of accommodation - Loch Lomond Waterfront is right up there with the best. The facilities, quality of fixtures and fittings and the setting all add up to a superb holiday experience and one that I have no hesitation in recommending to anyone. Outstanding!'
  • Outstanding location

'The location is outstanding - right on the edge of Loch Lomond with private water frontage and beaches. As a location for exploring, again this rates very highly. We easily accessed central Glasgow by train from nearby Balloch and also explored Stirling (particularly the castle and Wallace memorial), the Falkirk Wheel and even Perth and Pitlochry by car. It is a very peaceful place, which can only be disturbed on occasion by your neighbours but with the Slumber Charter in place, we had absolutely no problems overnight.'
  • A perfect place to relax

'Stayed at the Waterfront Lodges for a Fri to Mon short break for our daughters birthday last weekend. Lodge was placed right on the edge of Loch Lomond with stunning views.'
  • Everything was more than perfect

'Everything was more than perfect, more than what we can ask for. And the view priceless, the whole stay was priceless, so thank you ever so much, hope to see you soon.'
