Waverley Paddle Steamer ..

PS Waverley

All Aboard The PS Waverly

The PS Waverley is the last seagoing paddle steamer in the world. First launched in 1947, she was named after Sir Walter Scott’s Waverley novels. In service until 1973, the ship was then acquired by the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society.

Since 1975, the PS Waverley has run a passenger service. This video shows her first ever public sailing.

The steamer has undergone several major upgrades in recent years, rebuilding and restoring her to her former 1940s appearance. So, 120 years after she was first launched, this historic paddle steamer is still on top form!

Where does the PS Waverley sail?

Waverley Excursions operates a passenger service from various British ports. Regularly sailing from the Clyde, the Thames, the South Coast and the Bristol Channel. Along with offering private charters.

During the summer months, the PS Waverley mainly operates on the Clyde, with local calling points such as Glasgow and Helensburgh.

Helenburgh is just around a half-hour drive from us here at Loch Lomond Waterfront, so this makes a great day trip during your stay.

Testimonials

  • Such a beautiful setting

'Myself and my partner recently stayed in Drummond Lodge (from 21-24 Feb) and we just wanted to say thank you so much for a lovely stay. We loved our lodge, it was like a home from home, and we really didn’t want to leave! It was spotlessly clean and in such a beautiful setting. All the staff we met were really friendly. We also loved Balmaha, what a wonderful village. So thank you very much! We are the couple that took Flynn for a walk and we took this photo of him... we thought you’d appreciate a copy. Thanks once again...
  • Right up there with the best

'We have travelled the world and stayed in all sorts of accommodation - Loch Lomond Waterfront is right up there with the best. The facilities, quality of fixtures and fittings and the setting all add up to a superb holiday experience and one that I have no hesitation in recommending to anyone. Outstanding!'
  • Outstanding location

'The location is outstanding - right on the edge of Loch Lomond with private water frontage and beaches. As a location for exploring, again this rates very highly. We easily accessed central Glasgow by train from nearby Balloch and also explored Stirling (particularly the castle and Wallace memorial), the Falkirk Wheel and even Perth and Pitlochry by car. It is a very peaceful place, which can only be disturbed on occasion by your neighbours but with the Slumber Charter in place, we had absolutely no problems overnight.'
  • 40th celebration

'My husband and I came here to celebrate my 40th birthday and we truly had a magnificent time. There was everything that you needed in your accommodation even washing liquid and conditioner for the washing machine. The hot tub and steam room were a real highlight as well as the living log fire.'
  • Wish we had longer

'The ducks were very amusing, each day they waddled around the lodges looking for food, we bought some duck food for them in the local village shop. We just wished we were here for longer and hope to return in the future.'
