Loch Lomond Boat Trips

Boat trips on Loch Lomond are a great way to see both sides of the loch and all that surrounds it. Cruising the loch provides a unique perspective on its tranquil waters and islands, surrounding scenery, mountains and wildlife. Here are some boat trips to enjoy during a stay at Loch Lomond Waterfront.

Please see each individual service for departure points around the loch. Our closest is Balmaha, but you can also catch services at Balloch, Luss, Rowardennan and other points around the loch.

Balmaha Mail Boat

The Balmaha Mail Boat is an on-demand ferry service from Balmaha Boatyard to Inchailloch, one of the largest islands on Loch Lomond. It is a very short crossing and you must agree a return time with the ticket office at the start of your sail. The island is a stunning place to walk and explore.

Loch Lomond Waterbus

There are two waterbus services run by Sweeney’s Cruise Co. One between Balmaha and Luss and one between Balloch and Luss. These relaxing cruises take you to the ancient village of Luss. A beautiful and historic area, with plenty of lovely picnic spots and places to eat and drink. Tickets are available onboard the waterbus.

Leisure Cruises

Cruise Loch Lomond have a large range of Loch Lomond boat tours leaving from various points. Such as the Capercailie, a 90-minute circular cruise from Luss, exploring the historic Lomond landscape, with live commentary on the marauding Vikings and feuding clans.

Additionally, Sweeney’s also offers a choice of Daily Loch Tours, departing from Balloch. Including the popular Experience Cruise, a one-hour loop of Loch Lomond’s south basin. Or the Island Discovery Cruise, a two-hour tour revealing the secrets of the loch’s many islands.

Speedboat Tours

Testimonials

  • Wish we had longer

'The ducks were very amusing, each day they waddled around the lodges looking for food, we bought some duck food for them in the local village shop. We just wished we were here for longer and hope to return in the future.'
  • Such a beautiful setting

'Myself and my partner recently stayed in Drummond Lodge (from 21-24 Feb) and we just wanted to say thank you so much for a lovely stay. We loved our lodge, it was like a home from home, and we really didn’t want to leave! It was spotlessly clean and in such a beautiful setting. All the staff we met were really friendly. We also loved Balmaha, what a wonderful village. So thank you very much! We are the couple that took Flynn for a walk and we took this photo of him... we thought you’d appreciate a copy. Thanks once again...
  • Outstanding

'Chef in a lodge was outstanding. The food was excellent as was the service. Superb evening.'
  • 40th celebration

'My husband and I came here to celebrate my 40th birthday and we truly had a magnificent time. There was everything that you needed in your accommodation even washing liquid and conditioner for the washing machine. The hot tub and steam room were a real highlight as well as the living log fire.'
  • Our own private beach

'Just walking along the West Highland way path past some of the crowded beaches made us realise the value of having your own private waterfront onto the loch.  I can still picture walking down to the lochside on our first evening and watching an osprey dive for a fish!'
