Buchlyvie

Things to do in Buchlyvie

A 20-minute drive from Loch Lomond Waterfront takes you to this delightfully creative little village. This is the first of four villages you can stop at along the A811 to Stirling (along with Arnprior, Kippen and Gargunnock).

Landmarks and points of interest

Buchlyvie was a 19th century railway village, although the line closed by the mid-1900s. Buchlyvie Parish Church was originally a chapel, built in 1835 by public subscription. An earlier church on Station Road dates from 1751 and now lies derelict. There is also a Village Hall, built in 1884. In addition, there are several shops, pubs and local amenities to explore.

Places to shop and dine

The Buchlyvie Pottery is a delightful place to visit in Buchlyvie. Enjoy fresh food surrounded by arts and crafts, while drinking your tea from a beautifully crafted teapot! The Green Gallery continues the creative theme. Here, you can absorb an array of stunning artwork including paintings and unique objects that can dress your home. Ticketyboo Hair Design is situated off a secret hidden lane leading from the quaint main street of Buchlyvie. Have your hair done by Lorna in the most adorable salon – a gorgeous painted cabin surrounded by decking. And if you fancy a pub meal The Buchlyvie Inn will cook you up a treat!

Connect with nature

Just 2 miles from Buchlyvie, the Flanders Moss Nature Reserve is one of the largest remaining raised bogs in Britain. This wet and boggy area of land is home to wide variety of animal and plant life. This is a wonderful place to enjoy a stroll and take in the glorious surroundings. There is a boardwalk and viewing tower. Parking is available at the reserve entrance.

Enjoy your day exploring Loch Lomond’s towns and cities, before returning to your luxury lodge at Loch Lomond Waterfront. Here you can put your feet up, relax and start planning for tomorrow!

'We could not have been happier with our choice of Loch Lomond Waterfront as our wedding venue! The amazing, stunning and extremely scenic location is really just the start of a long list of great things about this venue. We loved having site exclusivity for the whole weekend, it really made the atmosphere fun and got everyone socialising well. The wedding coordinator/manager, Sheena, is AMAZING and a total credit to the venue!! She is a dynamo that makes everything seem easy. We also loved how much flexibility and choice we had with pretty much everything about our wedding, and how...

  • Breathtaking views

'Where to start! We chose the waterfront for our wedding because of the absolutely breathtaking views, location and surroundings. You can't put a price on a view like that. We were planning a small intimate wedding for 28, mid week at the waterfront and living all the way down in Kent, organising could have been so difficult if it wasn't for Sheena the wedding coordinators help. Everything was organised to a fabulous standard and despite my millions of emails she didn't get sick of me and was happy to email pictures and explain thoroughly. We were so lucky to have...
  • Our own private beach

'Just walking along the West Highland way path past some of the crowded beaches made us realise the value of having your own private waterfront onto the loch.  I can still picture walking down to the lochside on our first evening and watching an osprey dive for a fish!'
