Things to do in Killearn

The village of Killearn, near Stirling, is a 20-minute drive from us here at Loch Lomond Waterfront. Nestled next to the rolling Campsie hills, it boasts stunning views all around. 

Eating and drinking

The Three Sisters Bake is worth visiting to indulge with a coffee and a delicious breakfast or lunch. Attached to the beautiful Killearn Village Hall, you can dine and absorb the most spectacular views of Ben Lomond and the surrounding hills. Additionally, The Old Mill, situated in an old weaving mill, is a popular favourite, where you can enjoy delicious food in their restaurant or a drink in their quaint bar.

Walking and cycling

Given Killearn’s location, there are some beautiful walks. The Killearn pipe track runs along the foot of the Campsie Fells and links to the neighbouring villages of Blanefield and Strathblane. Furthermore, to make a day of this you can walk it in a loop, where you walk part of the West Highland Way and can stop at the Beech Tree Inn for refreshments. The village is not far from the Lochs and Glens Way (National Cycle Network 7), which is a great traffic-free route for cyclists.

Nearby attractions

Just 5 minutes outside of Killearn, Glengoyne Distillery is definitely worth a visit as part of your day trip. Offering a selection of tours, you can see for yourself how whisky is made at this historic Scotch whisky producer. The Devil’s Pulpit is also just down the road. This beautiful gorge is surrounded in myth and legend and makes for a fascinating walk. However, the walk can be dangerous so we recommend only exploring the pulpit as part of an organised tour.

    'The location is outstanding - right on the edge of Loch Lomond with private water frontage and beaches. As a location for exploring, again this rates very highly. We easily accessed central Glasgow by train from nearby Balloch and also explored Stirling (particularly the castle and Wallace memorial), the Falkirk Wheel and even Perth and Pitlochry by car. It is a very peaceful place, which can only be disturbed on occasion by your neighbours but with the Slumber Charter in place, we had absolutely no problems overnight.'
