The Pots of Gartness are a series of rocky pools on the Endrick Water about 20 minutes from the Waterfront. Autumn is the best time to visit as you can often watch the salmon leaping up-river, battling the forces of nature as they leave Loch Lomond to spawn. It can be a spectacular sight.
On your way you’ll go through the picturesque village of Gartness with its quaint cottages lining the river. See if you can spot the remains of the ancient mill which has crumbled beside the falls.
It was often a family favourite of ours and we never resist stopping off at the Wishing Well – a lovely old-fashioned tearoom nearby.
