Visit Glengoyne Distillery
For whisky lovers, a visit to a local distillery during their stay in Scotland is a must! Here at Loch Lomond Waterfront, we are only a 20-minute drive from Glengoyne Distillery. This producer of Scotch whisky was founded in 1833. Today it offers a selection of tours, so you can see for yourself how the whisky is made and try some for yourself.
Glengoyne Distillery is located in Dumgoyne, on the Highland Line between the Highlands and the Lowlands of Scotland. This unique position means that although its stills are in the Highlands, its maturing casks are in the Lowlands. Therefore making it the only Highland whisky producer to mature its casks in the Lowlands.
The Glengoyne Tour takes you on a journey through the whisky-making process. You’ll get to sample a dram, learn how Glengoyne create their flavours, and see where it all happens.
There are several other tours to pick from, which include further tastings. Plus, there is a Whisky and Chocolate Tour, where whiskies are matched to handmade chocolates. And even a Malt Master Tour, where you get the chance to create your very own single malt whisky.
After your chosen tour, take a walk to the hidden waterfall and wooded glen beside the distillery.
Glengoyne’s whisky is described as smooth, bold and complex. Due to its location on the boundary between the Highlands and Lowlands, it doesn’t have that peaty flavour that many Highland whiskies have.
In the onsite shop, you can purchase premium whiskies, tasting kits and collectables such as whisky glasses and decanters. So you can find the perfect souvenir from your visit.
You can reach the distillery by car, bus or as part of a coach tour. And if you are cycling or walking the West Highland Way, it is an ideal stopping point. See directions here.Book Accommodation

The most perfect day'The Most Perfect Day and The Most Perfect Venue! Where to start, I always knew I wanted to get married at Loch Lomond, just had to find the right venue and I was blown away with what The Waterfront had to offer. We got married in the conservatory due to typical Scottish Summer in July it decided to rain on our wedding day. I had my heart set on getting married outside on the loch so I thought I would be disappointed, however I am actually glad it rained in the morning, because it meant we got married in the...
Our own private beach'Just walking along the West Highland way path past some of the crowded beaches made us realise the value of having your own private waterfront onto the loch. I can still picture walking down to the lochside on our first evening and watching an osprey dive for a fish!'
A magical getaway'It is not at all a surprise that you are fully booked. If there is one place in the world we would like to be this summer, that place is Loch Lomond Waterfront Lodges, and I’m sure the only people who don’t share this passion are those, who simply have never been there. What a magical getaway and a retreat you have created! Thank you for that.'
Could not have been happier'We could not have been happier with our choice of Loch Lomond Waterfront as our wedding venue! The amazing, stunning and extremely scenic location is really just the start of a long list of great things about this venue. We loved having site exclusivity for the whole weekend, it really made the atmosphere fun and got everyone socialising well. The wedding coordinator/manager, Sheena, is AMAZING and a total credit to the venue!! She is a dynamo that makes everything seem easy. We also loved how much flexibility and choice we had with pretty much everything about our wedding, and how...
Undisturbed site exclusivity'We couldn't have asked for a better venue for our wedding. The flexibility and service that the staff of the venue provided was amazing and our wedding turned out to be the perfect day we had always hoped for. We had site exclusivity and we certainly weren't disturbed! it was so nice taking over such a large space and knowing the only faces we would see were our guests. We had a drinks reception and marquee down on the beach for 230 people but the next morning we used the function room to put on a breakfast of bacon butties...
