Perfect Lochside Break

“I don’t often write reviews on places I stay but I really wanted to commend the Loch Lomond Waterfront lodges on the overall experience we received from start to finish.

We arrived a couple of hours early for our stay in Mellerstein (we knew we wouldn’t be able to enter our lodge until 4pm due to extra cleaning measures being made) and the owner kindly suggested plenty of options to pass our time until our lodge was ready. The lodges own their own little beach (photos attached) where you can fish (licence purchased from village shop).

The wait was really worth it. The lodge itself was pristine. In the current climate where cleanliness is of the utmost importance, I can completely commend the cleaning staff. You could tell they hadn’t just sprayed a load of bleach around in hope it would smell clean. They had taken the time to remove every item and cleaned behind every cupboard to ensure the accommodation was as clean as it could be.

So once settled, we awaited our grocery delivery. We had complimentary tea, coffee and milk to get us started and the hot tub was ready to be used.

The layout of the property is great and spacious. Easily enough space for 6 adults, there is 3 bathrooms too.

There is a large entrance hall to keep all of your shoes and coats.

They supply you with plenty of cleaning products too (dishwasher tabs, laundry cleaner bin bags), along with salt and pepper so you don’t need to bring those with you. Lots of pots and pans to choose from too.

The actual area of Balmaha is lovely. So many walks for all ages. Conic Hill is a steep ascent to some amazing views (attached) and is located just across the road, roughly takes about 1.5-2 hours up and down.

We visited Luss for the day, a beautiful little village. We went on the Faerie trail and had lunch at Colquhouns. The Duck Bay is also well worth a stop. We used the sweeny cruises from Balloch for an hour cruise and walked around Balloch Country Park.

Unfortunately, the restaurants on the east side of the Loch are currently closed but we had a takeaway from The Oak Inn (300m from the lodges) and the food was delicious so I can imagine the pub itself would be lovely if it was open.

We currently have an ongoing list of places we would like to visit in the future and have rebooked for April next year.

“We stayed at the lodges for a family birthday, the lodge was very clean well equipped and the hot tub was a big hit. We had or wee dog with us too and she got a wee welcome pack, such a nice touch. We would love to return, the views are stunning, the surrounding area is beautiful. The local pub is fab and within walking distance. Everyone enjoyed the 3 nights and we would love to make a return trip.”

Dog Friendly & stunning lodges

“4 adults and 3 dogs stayed Thursday 19 – Sunday 22nd March. It was stunning!
Very clean and modern with lots of space to move around in. The kitchen was excellent with plenty of storage and utensils to cook with.
3 powerful showers and a hot tub.

Staff super friendly and complementary dog treats, poo bags and tennis balls were left for us in the kitchen.

We will definitely return in the near future!”

Beautiful Loch Lomond

Fabulous lodges in a beautiful location

“Stayed in interconnecting lodges 3 and 4 for a family celebration (9 adults and 4 children). Had a fabulous weekend. The lodges were spotlessly clean with good range of utensils. Loved the views from the bedrooms. Plenty of room for everyone. The weather was glorious which does help. Few minutes walk to loch where we did some open water swimming and the kids paddled and fished with their nets. The water is shallow for many metres making it ideal for paddles boards, kayaks etc. The oak tree inn and shop are 5 minute walk. Overall great weekend in lovely accommodation and owners very helpful.”

“Had an amazing short break in these lodges with the family, lodges very well equipped with everything you need and very spacious and comfortable. The site that they are on is the real star of the show, short walk down to the loch edge just spectacular. A nice touch that the lodges in the front have grass roofs adding to the view from behind. Sort walk down to Balmaha as well. Great stay, would definitely recommend.”

An absolutely amazing wedding day

We had an absolutely amazing wedding day at Loch Lomond Waterfront. Lloyd and I loved getting married down at the water.  The sun shone the whole day which made it even more special. Our guests also loved the venue and how peaceful it was during our ceremony. It was lovely just listening to the water during the minister’s prayers. Lloyd and I both loved the intimacy of the venue and the stunning scenery it had to offer. The transitions for each part of the day were so quick and smooth. Even the guests commented on how smoothly everything ran. Our coordinator Abigail went above and beyond throughout the day. All the little and big things were really appreciated. We wouldn’t change a thing and couldn’t have asked for a better day!

We loved our lodge, it was like a home from home, and we really didn’t want to leave! It was spotlessly clean and in such a beautiful setting. All the staff we met were really friendly. Our own private beach

40th celebration

‘My husband and I came here to celebrate my 40th birthday and we truly had a magnificent time. There was everything that you needed in your accommodation even washing liquid and conditioner for the washing machine. The hot tub and steam room were a real highlight as well as the living log fire.’

Wish we had longer

‘The ducks were very amusing, each day they waddled around the lodges looking for food, we bought some duck food for them in the local village shop. We just wished we were here for longer and hope to return in the future.’

Outstanding location

‘The location is outstanding – right on the edge of Loch Lomond with private water frontage and beaches. As a location for exploring, again this rates very highly. We easily accessed central Glasgow by train from nearby Balloch and also explored Stirling (particularly the castle and Wallace memorial), the Falkirk Wheel and even Perth and Pitlochry by car. It is a very peaceful place, which can only be disturbed on occasion by your neighbours but with the Slumber Charter in place, we had absolutely no problems overnight.’

‘We booked this to relax after a family tragedy and it was the perfect tonic. Stunning from top to bottom. The rooms were perfect with all the facilities needed. The hot tub on a winters evening took it to another level. The blackout curtains, allied to no light pollution outside, meant wakening up was the most natural I had experienced for years.’

The most perfect day

‘The Most Perfect Day and The Most Perfect Venue! Where to start, I always knew I wanted to get married at Loch Lomond, just had to find the right venue and I was blown away with what The Waterfront had to offer. We got married in the conservatory due to typical Scottish Summer in July it decided to rain on our wedding day. I had my heart set on getting married outside on the loch so I thought I would be disappointed, however I am actually glad it rained in the morning, because it meant we got married in the conservatory area, which was just beautiful. I think this was much more comfortable for our guests, rather than getting their heels dirty in the wet grass from the storm that happened the night before. It also felt very intimate in this room even although we had 125 guest. We then had drink receptions in The Thistle Room which had plenty of space for everyone. Most of our guests though that the conservatory was the marquee, so when they all walked down to the Loch to see the Marquee on the bonnie banks, everyone was blown away, it was a lovely surprise for our guests. The Marquee was AMAZING, I love how it is a blank canvas to work with any style/theme you like. We got fairly lights on the top over the dance floor and it looked just magical. Eventually, the rain cleared up and the sun came out, so we had a bonfire on our own private beach and the views of the Loch were incredible, the pictures look amazing with the views of the Loch in the background. The staff at the Waterfront could not do enough, they were so helpful on the day and everything ran so smoothly. Sheena was fantastic in the whole run-up to the wedding, she was great for suggestions, very honest with us about everything. On the day she worked so hard on making sure everything was perfect, I cannot thank her enough for everything she did. Also, I want to say how amazing the Lodges are, we had a lot of guests travelling from abroad for the wedding so we made a weekend out of it and we booked out all of the lodges for the weekend. Everyone had the best weekend, relaxing in the Hot Tubs and there is so much space in the Lodges for getting ready for a wedding. Only negative I would say is that the Honeymoon Lodge did not have a full-length mirror which was not ideal getting ready on your wedding day. Apart from that the lodges felt very luxurious, we feel very spoiled all weekend. If you would love to get married in Loch Lomond in the privacy of your own private beach, right on the Loch, there is no other like The Waterfront. I am looking forward to going back to stay in the lodges for our anniversaries to come.’

Breathtaking views

‘Where to start! We chose the waterfront for our wedding because of the absolutely breathtaking views, location and surroundings. You can’t put a price on a view like that. We were planning a small intimate wedding for 28, mid week at the waterfront and living all the way down in Kent, organising could have been so difficult if it wasn’t for Sheena the wedding coordinators help. Everything was organised to a fabulous standard and despite my millions of emails she didn’t get sick of me and was happy to email pictures and explain thoroughly.

We were so lucky to have 4 lodges for the week which were absolutely beautiful. This made our wedding perfect with everyone being able to spend time together before and after the wedding. We had a small marque down by the loch itself and with Sheenas help we decorated it with our wedding bits. The staff were very friendly, accommodating and helpful and the food was delicious. We had a bonfire and fireworks which was wonderful for everyone towards the end of the evening especially the men who need extra entertainment. Although I was worried about the midges in the end they didn’t bother us that much and it was worth it for a few bites here and there! I couldn’t recommend this venue enough and we will defiantly be visiting again to relive our magical week on the bonny banks of Loch Lomond.’

The amazing, stunning and extremely scenic location is really just the start of a long list of great things about this venue. We loved having site exclusivity for the whole weekend, it really made the atmosphere fun and got everyone socialising well. The wedding coordinator/manager, Sheena, is AMAZING and a total credit to the venue!! She is a dynamo that makes everything seem easy. We also loved how much flexibility and choice we had with pretty much everything about our wedding, and how helpful Sheena was with any questions along the way. The entire serving and bar staff over the weekend were also wonderful, and really, what can be said about the accommodation? Top-notch! If you want a relaxed, fun wedding in a gorgeous setting, this is the place- we are extremely happy with our choice and could not have imagined a better place for our wedding!’

We knew it would be perfect

‘From our very first visit to this venue we knew that it was going to be perfect for our reception! The setting is magical, with enchanting views on even the most dreich of days. The staff are fantastic and so accommodating. We loved that we had so much flexibility over our choices, unlike at other venues! There was plenty of space within the private function rooms, which gave our guests plenty of room to socialise while hiding from the wet west coast weather on our big day! It was great not having to share our day with uninvited guests. The thing that we appreciated the most was being one of a limited number of weddings held there that year- it made us feel like our day really mattered to the venue and it was not just another booking in the diary. We had the most special of wedding days and have to thank this venue for that!’

Undisturbed site exclusivity

‘We couldn’t have asked for a better venue for our wedding. The flexibility and service that the staff of the venue provided was amazing and our wedding turned out to be the perfect day we had always hoped for. We had site exclusivity and we certainly weren’t disturbed! it was so nice taking over such a large space and knowing the only faces we would see were our guests. We had a drinks reception and marquee down on the beach for 230 people but the next morning we used the function room to put on a breakfast of bacon butties for all our guests. We came up with he idea and that was it – all the preparation and cooking was done for us! We just had to turn up! Couldn’t recommend this place enough!’

Stunning location

‘Stunning location with superb views of Loch Lomond from the private beach shore we had our drinks reception down here and even had a little paddle in the loch to cool down. Excellent venue facilities. There are a few different areas inside to relax in. Main room, bar and conservatory where we had our evening buffet and fancy dress area. The Wedding package was excellent value for money and you can build your own to suit your individual requirements. We had lots of say in what we wanted and were allowed to change stuff to suit our style. 5* lodges onsite were brilliant for our guests and ourselves especially at the end of the night …only a few steps home. You can literally have everything you want on site. Would highly recommend this venue.’
